DB IdeasTrain Regio: the motto is "Capacity".
The aim is to develop new concepts to cope with the expected sharp increase in passenger volumes. (Twice as many long-distance passengers are expected as in 2015).
DB IdeasTrain City: This is all about extended urban transport.
The toilet cubicle of the future stands for a completely new user experience. The warm colors, pleasant materials and a bright lighting concept create a pleasant ambience - even in the hygiene area. A place to feel good.
The new room layout - urinal, toilet and wash island as separate modules - ensures greater availability of the toilet. The separate urinal increases the availability of the toilet compartment and prevents unnecessary waiting times. Washing and disinfecting hands and doing hair is also possible without using the toilet.
Hygiene and cleanliness are top 1 priority.
Particular emphasis was placed on the hygiene aspect of the toilet of the future. A clean toilet is a key requirement for all rail users. Even before the pandemic, it was particularly important - especially in the toilet area - to ensure that all active surfaces can be operated with as little contact as possible. This means that the door opening and locking mechanism, toilet flush and waste garbage can flap can be operated without contact. The same applies to soap dispensers, water and dryer usage. Disinfectant dispensers are of course located in all areas. The innovative light display on the toilet cubicle provides passengers with clear and easily recognizable information as to whether the toilet is currently available or not. A light strip in the floor in front of the toilet lights up green if the toilet is available or red if it is occupied.
The door opening indicators are only visible when the WC is free. Of course, the doors are opened contactlessly.
The wash island in front of the toilet area makes it easy to wash your hands without having to go to the toilet cubicle. A special detail here is the stool that can be pulled out using a kick mechanism, which makes it easy for children and small people to use, and of course there is also a disinfectant dispenser in this intermediate area.

The all-round railing provides safety, even if the ride gets a little bumpy.
In the toilet cubicle, for example, the innovative squat/seat toilet combination from Krüger Aviation allows the user to choose whether to sit or squat.
The fold-out baby changing table with extended surface has a lying surface with a comfortable cover. The changing table is positioned so that there is enough space in front of it for the adult to look after the child comfortably.
Bags or coats can be neatly hung up on hooks in the toilet cubicle and urinal.
The baby holder allows the adult traveler to use the toilet undisturbed without having to hold the infant in their arms. The holder is positioned so that the traveler can keep an eye on the child at all times.
